10 Unique Attractions to visit in Bangkok

Bangkok is a unique city itself that proffers so many unique and unusual places to explore. Besides affordable spas, great shopping and endless night markets, this vibrant city is home to strange phenomenons and has some oddest attractions. So, if you’re planning to visit this exciting city here is our list that combines the weird and unusual attractions in Bangkok that seems regular to locals but unique to travelers.

1. Forensic Museum: The creepiest and one of its kind museums in Bangkok located inside the Siriraj Hospital on the west bank of Chao Phraya River. Forensic Museum is the opposite of usual museums displaying the pretty artistic or cultural artifacts. Travelers’ looking for something very unique in Bangkok, then this exhibition is for you. The hospital features six distinct museums among them anatomic, pathology forensic museums are most interested as they’re the creepiest. The Pathology room professionally preserved the babies affected by genetic disorders in formaldehyde. The room is so fancy that it seems unreal to remain stoic. Next to this, an old room dedicated to different kinds of parasites, their origin and how they affect the human organs. The Songkran Nyomsane Forensic Medicine Museum displays the bodies of murderers, accident victims and the creepiest dried bodies of notorious madman, eat kid’s liver in 1950s. While the Anatomical Museum takes you to the journey of dark wood, old faded portraits and a dark passageway seems to date from another century. Thousands of body parts and genetic anomalies are frozen and preserved. The intense part was a bunch of new toys piled on top of a set of jars which contains malformed babies.
2. An Aeroplane Graveyard: A unique place to explore while you’re in Bangkok. Few abandoned airplanes, including a Jumbo Jet 747 is a home to a refugee family. Visitors can visit their home and walkthrough the remains of aircrafts. The fun site is located in Bangkok’s outer suburb of Ramkhamhaeng and a home to five abandoned and broken-down aeroplanes. 3. The Grand Palace: Bangkok trip is incomplete if you didn’t visit the Grand Palace. It is the most eminent attraction in city, which once was a king’s home and a place where government of Thailand carried out their work. The huge palace has more than 214,000 square meters to cover so it takes quite a time to explore the attractive attraction. Tourists only have to pay the entrance fee when you’re going in but some scammers are looting so be aware of them.  
4. Ghost Tower: A 49 storey luxury hotel was abandoned in 1997 Thailand’s Tom Yum Goog Financial Crisis. The Sathorn Unique is now a building stands as an eerie skeleton close to the city center. Many people believe that the abandoned building is home of evil spirits and have labelled it the ‘Ghost Tower’. Though the entry to building is banned and considered trespassing but by paying a small fee to security, you can go inside (not recommended at all). If you want to climb the Sathorn Unique or Ghost Tower, prepare yourself well with water, food, closed shoes and a torch is must taking things. There is no lighting at night in the building along with many dangers so, be careful.
5.  Phallic Shrine: Shrine of Goddess Tubtim have hundreds of penises from big stone sculptures to small wooden carvings that together stand ten feet tall and decorated with colorful ribbons. This unique spot actually honors Chao Mae Tubtim who is a female fertility spirit. Many women came here when they’re trying to conceive, leaving offerings of jasmine and lotus and success rate is quite good. 6. The Human Body Museum: A weird yet amazing exhibition of 14 dissected human bodies from Japan. Some people are not so happy with this freaking idea but some find it unique and exciting to visit. 14 standing bodies are displayed in two small room along with 130 spare parts that reveals different levels of dissection, network of arteries, multiple layers of muscles on 206 bones and nervous system as well as our organs hanging in the open is an unusual sight. It is great idea to take children so they can explore and get amazed to know what’s inside their bodies. The entire digestive system is truly eye opening as it appears so long that it hard to believe the whole thing fit into small cavity of one person’s body.
7. Wat Arun: Thailand is a land of over 31,000 Buddhist temples spread across the country but among the long list ‘Wat Arun’ is must see. Aruna was the God of Dawn and this temple was named after him and located on the bank of Chao Phraya River. The stunning temple stands 79 meters tall, covered in ceramic tiles and colored porcelain gives an incredible sight. Wat Arun is guarded by a pair of mythical giants that keep watch over the temple grounds.
8. Robot Building: Beautiful and unique Robot building first opened in 1986. The idea of 20 storey building came from the robot toy of architect’s son. The building has eyes and antennae, its quirky characteristics masks the fact the elements of exterior design serve real purposes. 9. Elephant Building: Another unusual building in Bangkok, located in the Chatuchak district. Elephant Building has three towers, A, B and C which joins perfectly from the top make up the shape of Thailand’s national animal elephant. The huge building can be easily seen even from the Expressway. To give more real appeal there are eyes and tusk on the right edge of the building. Currently the elephant building is used as an office space, condominium and also houses a language school.
10. David Beckham Temple (Wat Pariwat): With a unique fan loving place for David Beckham (notorious footballer). Wat Pariwat temple has been nicknamed David Beckham Temple and in the back corner of large altar, a Garuda one of mythic winged creatures replaced by David Beckham. Implemented by a fan with the agreement in 1998, his statute is just 30 cm high. If you ‘re fan of David Beckham then visiting this temple would be fun!
